This is a nice gun. i am impressed by the finish and looks. Shooting the gun was also quite fun, though I decided to stick with 100 grn powder loads ]two pellets[ because the kick with three pellets was quite impressive.
I did not BENCH the gun, I fired it from a precarious rest on my tailgate, and was getting 3 inch groups at 100 yards with the Hornady XTP''''s and the powerbelts. this is with a TC 3-9 scope.
I have the ability to shoot over a mile here, but will limit my shots to 150 yards or less until i have time to settle in and bench the gun to test several different loads. and then test my own ability with it at longer ranges.
So far, the ONLY bad things i have noticed with the gun, is that the hammer spur came loose, and had to be re tightened with a very tiny allen wrench. The other being that it became quite difficult to remove the breach plug if I did not swab the barrel every second or third shot. I hope to get my hands on some White hots and try them, as I have heard they are much cleaner.
Loading, even after six shots was not difficult, yes it required a little more pressure to seat the bullet, but not excessive pressure.. The power rod worked well. It is too short to clean the gun without the addition of the brass jag that comes along when you buy it, which is slightly problematic in that a quick swab between shots has you using a finger to push the rod down into the breach to get it to poke out the muzzle.
This is the first In line I have owned, and the short cleaning/loading rod may be inherent to this type, as my Older Hawken doesnt need the rod to pass completely through the barrel.
Comparing this gun to the Omega, and several other guns friends have, I can say that I am not impressed with the price. IF.. the recoil with three pellets was more manageable due to the modifications to the Bone Collectors stock and butt pad, AND i could have gotten it with a stainless fluted barrel, the price would be fine, as it stands.. I feel i have paid about 100 too much for the gun. perhaps as time goes on, the Weathershield will impress me. We will see how the season that is about to start goes and i will revise my opinion at that time!
