Lyman Product Information
Reminiscent of the mid-1800's trapper's pistol, the Lyman Plains Pistol is using modern steels and technology, but sticking to the original concept. Featuring a richly stained walnut stock, blackened iron furniture, polished brass trigger guard and ramrod tips the Lyman Plains Pistol isn't plain at all. A great companion for the Lyman black powder rifle the Lyman Plains Pistol is a great companion for you.

Excellent black powder pistol! More accurate than my Ruger P345 45ACP. The only issue is the nipple on the gun. As many will tell you, the nipple that comes with this gun is garbage. Replacing the nipple with a hot shot or spitfire nipple is a must. Also, the very odd threading on the nipple, 6 x .75mm, makes it almost impossible to find nipples in gun store. Most nipples in gun stores are 1/4x28. I guess that a gunsmith or some very talented people may be able to rethread the nipple hole to a standard size, but I would feel unprepared for the task. The hooked breach doesn''t work on this gun as-is. It is there; I can see it when I take it apart. Out of the gun the breach hook will work, but in the gun it seems as though the hooked breach was never tested in the factory. I suppose removing some wood will fix the problem, but I would not feel up to the task. Even so, this pistol is a million times better than a Traditions and much cheaper than a Pedersoli of similar quality.
